Off Highway Tyres

Tyres fitted on to Trucks & Equipment used for Construction, Farming, Material Handling, Mining etc. fall within this category. OFF-THE-ROAD TIRES are classified by the Tyre and Rim Association (TRA). A TRA code always consists of a letter that is followed by a number, although this number is sometimes also followed by another letter. The first letter indicates for which type of machine the tyre can be used. The next digit indicates the tire’s tread depth.

There are four types of OTR and industrial tyres – based on their application. The designated category can be found on the sidewall of the tyre. The types are listed below; and are reflected in the first letter(s) of the TRA code:

  • C    Compactor 
  • L    Loader/Dozer
  • G   Grader
  • E   Earthmoving (Transport, Scrapers, Articulated & Rigid Dump Trucks),
  • IND   Industrial/ Mechanical Handling

Tyre and Rim Association has also approved the following tire designations for agricultural tyres

  • F   Steer Front Tractor Tires
  • R  Drive Rear Tractor Tires
  • HF   High Flotation Tires
  • I   Implement Tires 

Sand Applications (E7)

The sand tyres are primarily employed in off-road vehicles and are purposely designed for use in dry sand and mud. Tread Pattern of these tyres is different from normal tyres and it consists of large rubber paddles arranged sequentially.

Tyres employed in vehicles used in construction sites comes under this category. Vehicles such as Compactor, Loader & Grader are used in civil construction sites.


Material Handling (E1,E2,IND R4, IND3,IND4,IND4S)
Material Handling tyres usually employed in warehouses, ports or wherever loading/unloading involves. It is executed with the help of Forklifts, Cranes, Industrial Trucks & Container Handlers.



Quarry (E4, L5, L5S)
Quarry is a type of deep open pit mine from which minerals & stones are extracted. Due to extreme conditions and rough terrain, quarry tyres have deep tread depth and reinforced Tyre casing to prevent cuts and other external damages.
